Vicki Durston: Today is TNBC Awareness Day

Vicki Durston, Director of Policy, Advocacy and Support Services at Breast Cancer Network Australia, shared a post on LinkedIn by Breast Cancer Network Australia, adding:

“Today is TNBC Awareness Day, and I’m proud to highlight the insights shared by Mel, a Consumer Representative with Breast Cancer Network Australia (BCNA) who volunteers her time through our Seat at the Table Program.

Mel shares her experience with being diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), a subtype that is often misunderstood. Her experience underscores the importance of recognising the diverse forms of breast cancer and the unique treatment pathways.

By sharing her story, Mel helps others connect with the realities of TNBC and the vital role awareness plays in supporting those affected.”

Quoting Breast Cancer Network Australia’s post:

“What’s something you want people to know about triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC)?

On TNBC Awareness Day, BCNA Consumer Representative (CR) Mel shares her experience with this type of breast cancer and highlights the key things others should know.

She says ‘before being diagnosed I had no idea there were different types of breast cancer and a variety of treatments. TNBC is one of the more uncommon types of breast cancer and can have a different treatment plan to many other types of breast cancer.’

See what she has to say about why awareness days are important and her advice to anyone recently diagnosed with TNBC.
