UICC Is Calling for Action on Environmental and Occupational Lung Cancer Risks
Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Lung cancer doesn’t affect everyone equally. Those most at risk often face overlapping exposures — tobacco use, workplace hazards like asbestos and diesel exhaust, and environmental pollutants such as air pollution and radon.
Populations in low-resource settings, older adults, and people working in industries like mining and construction are particularly vulnerable. Air pollution alone contributes to nearly one-third of lung cancer deaths globally.
UICC and its members are calling for stronger, inclusive action — from reducing exposure to known carcinogens and improving workplace safety to investing in clean air and public education. Protecting lung health means addressing risk from all angles.”
