UICC on clean cookstove initiatives to reduce lung cancer risk in low-income countries
Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) shared a post on LinkedIn:
“In many low-income countries, cooking with solid fuels like wood or charcoal in poorly ventilated homes exposes people to harmful smoke, a major risk factor for lung disease and cancer, especially for women and children.
Clean cookstove initiatives offer a solution by reducing exposure to dangerous pollutants. These stoves not only improve health but also help reduce deforestation and greenhouse gas emissions.
Education on the dangers of indoor air pollution and safer cooking alternatives is key. By supporting these efforts, we can protect vulnerable communities and reduce the global burden of lung disease and cancer.”
