Tracey O’Brien: The contributions of women in science have changed the world
Tracey O’Brien, NSW Chief Cancer Officer and CEO of the Cancer Institute NSW, posted on LinkedIn:
“The contributions of women in science have changed the world.
When it comes to cancer in NSW, there are incredibly talented, skillful, critical thinking women strengthening our state as a world-class research hub. They are making innovative discoveries, leading clinical trials, and translating findings into improving outcomes that matter.
Since 2004, female researchers have made up more than 56 per cent of investment through the Cancer Institute NSW’s highly prestigious Career Support Program. Cancer Institute NSW Fellow, Dr Yuchen Feng, is one of these women and I think she nails it when she says that diversity drives innovation. When we foster inclusive environments for women to thrive, support their careers, and celebrate their successes – the flow-on effect is limitless.
On this International Day of Women and Girls in Science, let’s take a moment to acknowledge and celebrate the incredible, trail blazing women whose scientific discoveries are helping shape healthier futures.
Read Dr Feng’s words.”
