Toufic Kachaamy: The one constant about medicine is that facts are always changing
Toufic Kachaamy, Chief of Medicine and Medical Director of Gastroenterology at City of Hope Phoenix, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“The one constant about medicine is that facts are always changing.
Because of faulty research, many thought for a long time that alcohol is good for you.
More recent research shows exactly the opposite.
My heart rate variability takes 2 to 3 days to recover after one alcoholic drink.
Alcohol is a well-established, preventable cause of cancer responsible for about 100,000 cases of cancer and 20,000 cancer deaths annually in the United States, Murthy said.
Yet the majority of Americans are unaware of this risk.”
Dr. Toufic Kachaamy, Chief of Medicine and Medical Director of Gastroenterology at City of Hope Phoenix, specializes in advanced endoscopy and the treatment of gastrointestinal cancers.
Dr. Kachaamy is known for his innovation in endoscopic oncology, having invented the Sure Access Needle, which aids in endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP).
He also founded the annual Advances and Innovations in Endoscopic Oncology and Multidisciplinary Gastrointestinal Cancer Care conference.
