Tilly Metz: Why Must Women’s Cancer Care Be a Priority?
Tilly Metz, Member of the European Parliament, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Why Must Women’s Cancer Care Be a Priority?
Because gender disparities in healthcare continue to cost lives. Women face unique challenges in cancer prevention, treatment, and research—yet health systems too often fail to address them.
- Lower screening rates and delayed diagnoses
- Higher financial burdens and caregiving responsibilities
- Underrepresentation in clinical trials and research
These gaps are not just unacceptable—they are inexcusable. That’s why in the European Parliament, we are pushing for real change.
- A dedicated EU Women’s Health Strategy
- Stronger legislation and funding for gender-sensitive healthcare
- Ensuring women are included in research and clinical trials
With the MEPs for Women’s Health group, we are making sure women’s health is not just discussed—but acted upon.
We won’t stop until healthcare systems work for everyone.
What do you think are the most urgent steps to close the gender gap in cancer care? Let’s discuss.“
