This important study sheds light on the complex realities of providing cancer care in conflict-affected regions, using Iraq as a case study. The authors document:
Widespread disruptions in cancer diagnostics and treatment
Stark disparities in access to care across regions
The resilience and dedication of healthcare professionals operating in unstable environments
At ICC, we believe this article powerfully reinforces our core mission: to address the intersection of oncology and crisis settings. We echo the authors’ call for international cooperation, health system strengthening, and research investment to close the equity gap in cancer care for populations living in or displaced by conflict.
