Benda Kithaka: Prevention is better than cure, especially in vaccine preventable diseases
Benda Kithaka, Executive Director & Founder of KILELE Health Association, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Prevention is better than cure, especially when it comes to vaccine preventable diseases…
Since its inception in 2000, Gavi has helped to immunize over 888 million children, and prevented more than 15 million future deaths, helping to halve child mortality in 73 lower-income countries.
I live and work in a part of the world that is leading in global cervical cancer cases and deaths, yet it is preventable through HPV Vaccination.
So, without hesitation, I join my fellow activities, advocates and community champions, as part of the civil society engagement and call on donor agencies, governments, private foundations, corporations, and all partners, to support the upcoming replenishment call for Gavi to deliver on its next strategy – Gavi 6.0.
I urge others to help with the crucial investments that need to be made now, if the future of our women and girls is to be safeguarded.
You too can sign the GAVI Call for Action.”
