Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus: Vietnam makes Bold decision to Protect Citizens from Vaping and Tobacco
Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), reshared a post on X by Angela Pratt, WHO Representative, Vietnam at World Health Organization, adding:
“Congratulations, Vietnam, on making this bold decision to protect your citizens, especially the young ones, from vaping and heated tobacco products.”
Quoting Angela Pratt’s post:
“Vietnam’s National Assembly today voted to ban import, production, trade and use of e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products. This is a vote for health, especially the health of Vietnam’s young people.
Bravo National Assembly members, especially Health Minister Lan for your unwavering leadership.”
Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus is the Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), a position he has held since 2017. In this role, he has led global health initiatives and responses to public health emergencies, including the COVID-19 pandemic. Previously, Dr. Tedros served as Ethiopia’s Minister of Health, where he significantly improved healthcare infrastructure and expanded access to health services. He also served as Ethiopia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, strengthening international diplomatic relations and advocating for health as a key component of global development.
