Sumanta Pal: Can we come up with a score that rates the suitability of SWOG studies for LA countries?
Sumanta Pal, Vice Chair of Academic Affairs at City of Hope, shared a post on X:
“One of my favorite sessions at SWOG was the SLAI (SWOG Latin American Initiative) meeting hosted by Erika Ruiz-Garcia and Bettina Muller. Terrific overview of contributions of various LA countries to SWOG trials (highlighted below: stats from MX from Paula Cabrera).
My thoughts: Can we come up with a score that rates the suitability of SWOG studies for LA countries? The score could factor in elements like availability of control arm (if not provided), biospecimen requirements, prevalence of disease condition, etc. This score might help us focus efforts on those studies best suited for collaborations.
Productive session and lunch afterwards. Will be working on figuring out how we can get SWOG GU more involved in the SLAI!”
