Stefano Magno: Bridging Oncology and Primary Care
Stefano Magno, Breast surgeon of the Center for Integrative Oncology at Agostino Gemelli University Policlinic, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“‘The oncologist has a unique responsibility to emphasise key tenets of survivorship care from the beginning of diagnosis and guide the trajectory of the different seasons of survivorship in partnership with patients and clinicians.’
What if the answer was in the middle? Between the oncologist and the primary care physician, a multidisciplinary approach to cancer patients/survivors could include an integrative medicine team (addressing mental and sexual health, lifestyles, wellbeing), along the cancer journey, either inside and outside the hospital.
This is the model we have built inside the Breast Unit at Fondazione Policlinic.”
