Shrenik Shah’s Journey: Living Loudly Without Vocal Cords at 72
Shrenik Shah, Patient Ambassador and Moderator of Fridays with Shrenik Live webinar at the Indian Cancer Society, posted on LinkedIn:
“At 72, I should be slowing down. Rest more. Talk less. Stay away from long flights and longer agendas. After all, I’ve survived cancer. Twice.
But it’s not my body that gets me out of bed every morning. It’s my mind. And the fire in it hasn’t dimmed. Not one bit.
I’ve heard…
- “Shrenik, why take the stage when you could sit in the audience?”
- “Why speak when you’ve already lost your voice?”
- “Why keep going, when you’ve already achieved so much?”
But here’s what they don’t see:
- + I’ve spoken for 9,000+ hours without vocal cords.
- + I’ve trained 100,000+ minds across the world without a mic that works on its own.
- + I’ve built a louder voice than ever before, not because I had to, but because I wanted to.
I’ve seen…
- People with perfect health, who feel too tired to care.
- People with limitless potential, who keep waiting for the ‘right time.’
- And people with everything, but no purpose to wake up to.
So I chose differently. I chose meaning over medicine. Purpose over prescriptions. Impact over excuses. Today, I didn’t run behind stage lights. I create them for others to shine.
So to anyone asking, “Why didn’t you slow down, Shrenik?” I say, “Because this is not my finish line. It’s someone else’s starting point. And I want to be there to cheer them on.”
P.S. The worst advice I ever got? “Take it easy now.” Life doesn’t slow down. Why should I?
What’s one piece of advice you chose to not follow and you’re glad you didn’t?”
