Sherry Crowe: The New Face of Cancer – Younger, Later, Tougher

OncoConnect, posted on“Is it just me getting older, or is the cancer incidence increasing substantially and showing up more aggressively and presenting in later Stages (3 and 4) in patients in their 40’s and early 50’s!!
I have many very close friends with late stage Renal Cancer, Prostate Cancer, Lung, CRC and Breast Cancer and also very Rare diseases.
This reality hit me hard last night…I attended the Graduation party for the son of a dear friend. In his early 50’s, he is holding onto his life long enough to be able to see his son walk across the stage to graduate in June.Too many times in the past 6 months I have received a call from friends who’s husband or wives have been diagnosed with an aggressive cancer. Way too young…and way too often, and way too aggressive.
This incredible Oncology community I have been a part of for the past 28 years, has helped so many of my dear friends and neighbors struggling for answers.
Thank YOU to all of the Oncology practitioners and staff out there that have shared that they are continuing to practice because of their commitment to their patients, BUT the admin and the Insurance Industry is killing this passion… I hope and pray for the sake of our parents, friends and our children, that something changes for our doctors today and the future kids that want to be doctors.
We need you more than ever!”
