Shashi Kant reflects on the Cleveland GU Consortium Meeting
Shashi Kant posted on LinkedIn:
“I am excited to share that I recently had the opportunity to attend the Cleveland Genitourinary Oncology Consortium Meeting on October 16, 2024, hosted by University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center and Cleveland Clinic Taussig Cancer Center.
A special mention to Pedro C Barata – Director of the GU Medical Oncology Research Program, University Hospitals Seidman Cancer Center, and Miggo Family Chair in Cancer Research, under whom I had the privilege to complete a clinical rotation. Dr. Barata is an internationally renowned expert in GU oncology and a pioneer in clinical trials and cancer research.
His mentorship has profoundly shaped my approach to patient care and research in oncology. I saw firsthand his unwavering dedication to patients, often saying, ‘You are not just a number; we treat people, not numbers.’
One of his most impactful lessons to me was, ‘As people who wear the white coat, it’s our responsibility to find the answers for the next generation of medicine.’ His mentorship has not only shaped my approach to patient care but also fueled my passion for research and innovation. I am grateful for the lasting influence he’s had on my career.
Attending this consortium was a fantastic learning experience, and I look forward to continuing my journey in this rapidly evolving field!”
