Sharon Kapambwe: Every experience with cancer is unique
Sharon Kapambwe, Technical Officer of Cancer Control at the World Health Organization, shared on LinkedIn:
“Every experience with cancer is unique.
This morning hearing my dear friend Karen Nakawala a cervical cancer survivor share her story just made me realise the uniqueness of the cancer journey. I could sense that telling the story took her all way back to every point of emotion in her journey.
The past one year has been tough realising that people in my circle are living this reality.
Yes my world has been upside down looking at friends and family walk this journey.
Yet, this reality has made me see the resilience and passion of unmatched levels by people on this journey.
Care which puts people at the centre and not the disease will definitely lead to best health outcomes.
‘Healthy is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.’ WHO
P/S Photo is supposed to be upside down. Cancer turns lives upside-down!”
