Sendurai Mani: The Courage Behind the Badge

I recently had the incredible opportunity to join Officer Flavio Tavares on a ride-along program. Thanks to Leadership Rhode Island for organizing this eye-opening experience, which offered a unique glimpse into the daily challenges officers face.

Officer Flavio shared valuable insights on how ‘common sense’ isn’t always so common and how he manages his day from his ‘mobile office.’Most importantly, I learned the vital importance of teamwork in everything we do, especially in law enforcement.

During our conversation, I shared the fascinating parallel between the work of police officers and the immune system. Just like a type of immune cells called T cells that patrol the body, scanning for threats and calling in reinforcements to defeat invaders like bacteria, viruses, or even cancer cells, police officers work together to keep us safe. It was a powerful reminder of the critical role they play in our society.

A heartfelt thank you to Officer Flavio Tavares and all the police officers who work tirelessly to protect us.”
