Scott Jacobson: Lung Cancer detection is not only possible it is imperative
Scott Jacobson, Healthcare Professional at JacobsVenture, shared a post on LinkedIn by OncoSwab, adding:
“Important message for leaders of hospitals, pulmonary, radiology and primary care organizations. Lung Cancer detection is not only possible it is imperative.
Recent data shows this screening occurs for only 16% of the population eligible for screening (we also know guidelines do not fully address the at risk population) thus we are seeing more cases of never smokers diagnosed with lung cancer. Would we allow 84% of airline flights to crash? I think not, let’s improve the action we take.
Surprisingly many hospitals it seems have not initiated lung nodule assessment and screening programs like Javier J Z., Miguel Angel Ariza Prota, Javier Pérez Pallarés, Konstantinos Gioutsos and Pan-Chyr Yang lead at their respective facilities in conjunction with OncoSwab (hats off to you gentlemen and your institutions).
Help us intensify the fight against this under-addressed and costly disease!
Please forward and tag those who need to hear this message and help us find lung cancer at Stage I and not Stage III+.”
Quoting OncoSwab’s post:
“1.6 million nodules, 1.6 million moments that matter.
Each year, 1.6 million Americans are diagnosed with incidental pulmonary nodules. But here’s the harsh reality: over 60% of these cases are lost to follow-up, leaving patients in limbo and lives at risk.
This isn’t just a number, it’s a wake-up call!
At Oncoswab, we’re here to make sure those moments don’t slip away. With our non-invasive nasal swabs, we’re aiming at closing these gaps, prioritizing early detection, and ensuring follow-up care stays on track.
Because behind every number is a life, and every life deserves a fighting chance.”
