Sahar Mansour: Radiologists – The Visionaries with an Extended View
Sahar Mansour, Professor of Radiology in the Women’s Imaging Unit at Kasr El Ainy Hospital, Cairo University, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Radiologists: The Visionaries with an Extended View.
There are two types of doctors: radiologists and those who wish they were radiologists. Imagine having the superpower to see through walls, detect hidden treasures, and spot the tiniest details that others might miss. That’s pretty much what we radiologists do, minus the capes and dramatic music.
We are the Sherlock Holmes of the medical world, armed with advanced workstations that give us an extended view into the human body. These magical screens are not just tools; they are extensions of our eyes and minds. With the experience of a mentor and the keen eye of a junior, we use these displays to augment our diagnostic powers.
Mammograms, in particular, are like a challenging puzzle with intricate patterns of tissue densities. However, training and experience, coupled with the extended view display, equip us to navigate these complexities and provide accurate diagnoses. The role is not just about identifying diseases but also about offering a sense of reassurance and clarity to patients during uncertain times.
And let’s face it, there are two types of radiologists: breast imaging radiologists and those who wish they were breast imaging radiologists.
Admit it! Who wouldn’t want to be one of us?”
