Sahar Mansour, Professor of Radiology in the Women’s Imaging Unit at Kasr El Ainy Hospital, Cairo University, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Weekly IR Meetings at Cairo University: Advancing Interventional Radiology

The Interventional Radiology (IR) Unit at Kasr AlAiny School of Medicine, Cairo University, under the active supervision of Prof. Omar Abdelaziz, has been hosting a series of highly successful weekly meetings actively prepared and organized with the strong background and support of Prof. Ahmed Sayed Awad.

These sessions have provided valuable insights and updates on various topics within the field of interventional radiology, fostering a collaborative environment for knowledge sharing and professional growth.

The most recent meeting focused on “Thyroid Radiofrequency (RF)” and “Microwave Ablation and Thyroid Artery Embolization in Multinodular Goitre”. The discussions highlighted the proven feasibility and efficacy of these techniques, despite the lack of long-term follow-up. Prof. Ahmed Sayed Awad, Prof. Shady Mashhour, and their junior team presented impressive cases with zero complications, showcasing their expertise and dedication.

It is worth highlighting that these IR meetings has been held to emphasizing the importance of collaboration between institutes and experts in the field of interventional radiology.

Invited colleagues and active participation from other institutes ensure that knowledge is shared, and experiences are elevated, benefiting the community of IR across the Republic.

Dr. Sahar Mansour is a Professor of Radiology in the Women’s Imaging Unit at Kasr El Ainy Hospital, Cairo University. She serves as Chief of the Scientific Committee for the Egyptian Society of Breast Imaging and is the Research Program Coordinator for the Radiology Department at Baheya Foundation. Dr. Mansour also consults in breast imaging and intervention at Baheya Charity Women’s Cancer Hospital and is the Cairo Regional Coordinator for Egypt’s National Breast Cancer Screening Program with the Ministry of Health and Population.
