Sachin H Jain: One of the Most Important Leadership Lessons I Learned From the Late Leeba Lessin
Sachin H Jain, President and CEO, Board Director of SCAN Health Plan, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“I was reminded recently of one of the most important leadership lessons I learned from the late Leeba Lessin.
In 2016, Leeba and I together visited CareMore Health’s Upland Care Center.
As we were leaving the building, the front desk receptionist called out, “Leeba, can we have a fish tank in reception? I think the patients and the staff would really love it.”
Leeba responded with her unmistakeable warmth, “Of course you can, dear. We will make it happen.”
And she quickly got to typing an email to our facilities leader asking him to get going on a tank and maintenance contract.
As we left the care center, Leeba asked me, “what just happened there?”
I responded quizzically, “You just got a fish tank?”
Leeba: “No, we told the whole team in that care center that there ideas matter. That they matter. All for the modest price of a fish tank! Never forget how easy it it to do that.”
I’ll never forget Leeba’s genius and deep humanity.”
