Sachin H. Jain Challenges the Myth of Pure Meritocracy in Hiring
Sachin H. Jain, President and CEO of SCAN Group, posted on LinkedIn:
“The mistaken belief that hiring is solely merit-based often causes more harm to individuals’ self-esteem than is commonly recognized.
It also reinforces misleading narratives about a successful candidate’s supposed superiority.
In reality, most hiring decisions are influenced not only by qualifications and fit but also by subjective factors and other indiosyncracies of hiring processes.
Pretending otherwise is disingenuous.”
Sachin H. Jain called attention to the flawed assumption that hiring is purely merit-based. He emphasized how this narrative can damage self-esteem and obscure the role of subjectivity and systemic influences in recruitment.
