Runcie C.W. Chidebe About Investment in the Health Workforce
Runcie C.W. Chidebe, Executive Director of Project PINK BLUE, shared a post by Alex Onyia, CEO at Educare, on X, adding:
“This analysis is applicable to hospitals.
Our politicians prefer to build ultra-modern facilities that are big and huge, yet there is zero investment in the health workforce.
Some of the biggest hospitals with many states, does not even have working pharmacy unit not one mammogram. In government hospitals, excellent buildings yet you would need to go a private pharmacy opposite the hospital to buy a syringe.
Health workforce are rarely in the hospital, yet we are building hospitals instead of building the workforce and equipments needed for the hospitals.”
Quoting Alex Onyia’s post below:
“Educare software was used to host a CBT competition for all the secondary schools in Port-Harcourt. The organizers picked the top 4 best students in each school to compete.
No government school came on top 22. FGC was 23 followed by other private schools. The worst performance were the government schools.
Buildings don’t run themselves. It’s not enough to build schools for PR but fail to invest in core teaching and learning.
Without top quality teachers and learning resources, you can’t expect students to thrive.”
