“What an incredible Annual Meeting for the AACI (Association of American Cancer Institutes)/CCAF these past few days in Chicago.
From learning about some of the latest cutting-edge research to connecting VCU Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center community members to cancer center directors from across the nation, we are expanding the cancer research and treatment conversation to include, and impact those who are at higher risk for this disease.
Congratulations to Dr. Paula D. Bos for her Distinguished Science Award, and to all of my Massey colleagues who attended and participated in dialogue with our partners from around the country.”

Robert A. Winn, M.D., is the Director and Lipman Chair in Oncology at VCU Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center and a professor at VCU School of Medicine. Winn oversees nearly 150 scientists and clinical investigators and is nationally recognized for his community engagement efforts.
He manages a research lab focusing on lung cancer and health disparities, supported by NIH and Veterans Affairs Merit awards. Previously, he directed the University of Illinois Cancer Center and held various leadership roles at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.
Paula D. Bos is an Associate Professor at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine and Co-Leader of the Cancer Biology Program at VCU Massey Cancer Center.
Her research focuses on understanding tumor-stromal interactions that promote tumor progression and metastasis, with a particular emphasis on the role of regulatory T cells within the tumor microenvironment in breast cancer models resistant to immunotherapy.
