Ramy Sedhom: Using the ACT Index to improve palliative care in New Jersey

Ramy Sedhom, Assistant Professor of Hematology and Oncology at Perelman School of Medicine, shared on X:

“First time at C-TAC and wonderful opportunity to present on using the ACT Index to improve palliative care in NJ.

Great partnership with Goals of Care Coalition of New Jersey, Torrie Fields to tell an important story using data.

Ramy Sedhom: Using the ACT Index to improve palliative care in New Jersey

There are truly supply / demand problems for patients who need PC and the availability of teams to provide it.

This map tells the story:

1. Access is limited in more rural parts of the state
2. Patients can only access PC where it is available

Great of Governor Phil Murphy, Senator George Helmy to sign into law Medicaid Palliative Care benefit.

This is a gamechanger for patients and families, especially the most vulnerable with serious illness. Credit to Goals of Care Coalition of New Jersey, David R. Barile, Torrie Fields, Lori Feldstein.”
