The Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research, founded in 2005, has spent the past two decades as a powerful advocate for children fighting cancer. Born out of the vision to close the funding gap for pediatric cancer research, the foundation has made it its mission to empower researchers, support families, and accelerate discoveries that can change lives.
About the Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research
The Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization dedicated to finding better treatments with fewer long-term side effects, and ultimately cures, for all types of childhood cancers. Founded by Dean Crowe, the foundation began after a young boy in her community was diagnosed with cancer. Recognizing the significant funding gap in pediatric oncology compared to adult cancers, Crowe set out to build an organization that would rally communities, researchers, and families together to fuel discoveries that directly benefit children.
Over the years, Rally has become a trusted leader in childhood cancer advocacy and research support. The foundation awards competitive research grants to investigators at all career stages, with a particular emphasis on funding early-phase and innovative projects that are often overlooked by larger institutions. To date, Rally has invested millions of dollars into research across a wide spectrum of pediatric cancers, supporting both laboratory-based science and clinical trials that bring hope to children and their families.
Beyond research funding, Rally is known for building a strong community of supporters and advocates. The foundation empowers families and volunteers through initiatives like the Rally Athlete program, where endurance athletes dedicate their training and races to raising funds for pediatric cancer research, and Rally Schools, which engage students in learning about and supporting the cause.
This unique blend of scientific commitment and grassroots energy has allowed Rally not only to fund science but also to elevate awareness about childhood cancer on a national scale.
A Milestone Anniversary
This September marks Rally’s 20th anniversary, a moment to reflect on two decades of unwavering commitment and impact. From small grassroots beginnings, the foundation has grown into a national movement that not only advances science but also raises awareness about the urgent need for more investment in pediatric cancer research. The anniversary is both a celebration of progress and a call to continue pushing forward until cures are found for every child.
In a meaningful moment on this special anniversary, Dean Crowe, the CEO and founder of the Rally Foundation, shared OncoDaily’s recent post about 100 Influential Women in Oncology: Key Opinion Leaders to Follow on Social Media in 2025 (Part 5). It is an honor to see this connection highlighted on a day that celebrates 20 years of Rally’s extraordinary mission and impact.
“Wow! Thank you OncoDaily! Today is Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research’s actual 20th anniversary and this honor is very special. Thank you for providing a digital platform that brings the global cancer community together to educate, collaborate and think big! Rally On.”
Congratulations from OncoDaily
OncoDaily warmly congratulates the Rally Foundation on this remarkable milestone. We celebrate their dedication, honor their achievements, and wish them continued success in the years to come as they pursue their mission of giving children with cancer the futures they deserve.
