“What if we could detect bladder cancer with a simple urine test?
The current ‘gold standard’ diagnostic procedure is an invasive cystoscopy, but we are working to further develop a urine-based liquid biopsy test for early detection of the disease.
“The development of accurate, non-invasive early detection methods are a critical step to reducing bladder cancer burden and diagnostic waiting times, particularly when considered against pre- and post-pandemic pressures on the NHS and its growing backlog of cancer patients.” (Dr Dan Middleton, Centre for Public Health at Queen’s University Belfast)

“Bladder Cancer is the 9th most common cancer type worldwide, & one of the most challenging to diagnose & treat.
The detection of this biomarker is simple & non-invasive, & could provide a cost-effective tool to improve early detection & monitor recurrence.”
