Pranati Yadlapalli Presents Nerve Injury Research at National Conference
Pranati Yadlapalli, Stamps President’s Scholar at Georgia Institute of Technology, shared the following insightful post on LinkedIn:
“This past weekend, I had the privilege of attending the inaugural National Undergraduate Research Conference at Brown University — a truly unforgettable experience. The event brought together over 200 passionate undergraduate researchers from more than 125 universities across the country, creating an inspiring atmosphere of collaboration and innovation.
I was honored to share my research, ‘Investigating VGlut1 Synaptic Density Onto Isl1+ Premotor Interneurons After Peripheral Nerve Injury,’ with such a talented and enthusiastic group of peers. Presenting my work and receiving feedback from fellow researchers and faculty was both humbling and motivating.
One of the highlights of the conference was the keynote address by Dr. Wafik S. El-Deiry, Director of the Legorreta Cancer Center and Associate Dean of Oncologic Sciences at Brown’s Warren Alpert Medical School. His discussion of oncology research and the discovery of the WAF1 gene was not only fascinating but also deeply inspiring.
I am incredibly grateful to my mentors, Dr. Timothy Cope and Travis Rotterman, and to my entire research team for their constant support and encouragement. Their guidance has been invaluable to my growth as a researcher and as a person.
A big thank you as well to the Ivy League+ Pre-Health Society for organizing such a meaningful event, and to all the fellow researchers who generously shared their insights and experiences. Connecting with so many bright minds has only strengthened my passion for research that bridges basic science and clinical impact. I’m excited to carry these lessons forward as I continue on my academic journey.”
This post by Pranati Yadlapalli highlights the significance of connecting young scientific talent across universities through collaborative events like the National Undergraduate Research Conference. Yadlapalli’s presentation on peripheral nerve injury and synaptic density not only expanded her academic exposure but also reflected the importance of integrating basic science with clinical relevance, particularly within neuroscience and oncology research spaces.
