Penilla Gunther: What Do You Need When You Feel Quite Alone?
Penilla Gunther, Former Member of Swedish Parliament and Founder of FOKUS Patient, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“What do You need when something unexpected happens to you when you are abroad, and even though you get well cared for by healthcare, you feel quite alone?
Right – you need good friends.
My gratitude to Devi Mey and Luciano Potena when I could not make it for the ESOT – European Society for Organ Transplantation Congress and they sent their team members Supriya Barve and Denise D. to me with an english charger (and a Coke) saved literally my life together with visits by Neill Duncan and Jack (forgot the last name, sorry).
I need to celebrate the nice staff at the Northwick Park and St Marks Hospital for keeping up the good spirit and being so service-minded.
I should also have continued my journey to Athens and a Hellenic Cancer Federation | ELLOK Conference together with Eleni (Lina) Tolma, Christos Tsagkaris, Nevenka Maher, Cancer Mission Board, but had to cancel that too. Thank you, George Kapetanakis and many others for your kind concern about my health.
A big thank you also to Ed Harding from Heart Failure Policy Network, my good friend, for visiting me yesterday.
The first diagnosis changed and I will be back ‘in business’ soon again and back in Sweden.”
