Childhood Cancer International – Europe shared a post on LinkedIn:
“The first stage of the European Hematology Association (EHA) Patient Advocates Training Programme was successfully completed last Monday with its first face-to-face meeting.
This intensive learning programme, organized by the European Patient Advocacy Institute, is designed for patient advocates working in both malignant and non-malignant haematological diseases.
The EHA Patient Advocates Training Programme provides advocates with essential knowledge, skills, and networking opportunities through two in-person workshops and three virtual sessions. The programme’s structure is based on interviews conducted to identify the priorities and training needs of patient advocates.
Participants were nominated by 13 pan-European haematology patientorganisations. Among them was CCI Europe Team Member and Patient Advocate, Anna Zettl, who participated in the training sessions.
The training sessions focus on:
- Building foundational knowledge
- Engaging in case studies and real-world applications
- Strengthening advocacy skills
While, key topics covered include:
- Advocacy in Action and Stakeholder Interests
- Patient Engagement in Clinical Trials
- Evidence-Based Advocacy
As part of the programme, trainees will attend the EHA Congress in June, where they will receive guided support, including participation in sessions, poster walks, targeted training, and debriefing sessions.
This initiative aims to equip patient advocates with the tools they need to effectively represent and support the haematology patient community.”
