Keynote Lecture by Pamela Kunz to Highlight Need for Inclusive Science in GI Cancers – ASCO

“With Colorectal Cancer on the rise in younger adults, the need for an inclusive and diverse oncology workforce is more important than ever. Dr. Pamela Kunz will discuss this need and more, including how to potentially expand clinical trial enrollment, in her Keynote Lecture at the 2025 ASCO GI Cancers Symposium.
“There is a long history of exploiting patients who have been underrepresented in clinical research,” she said, “so we, as a medical profession, need to do a better job.”

Pamela Kunz is the Professor of Medicine in the Division of Oncology at Yale School of Medicine, Director of the Center for Gastrointestinal Cancers at Yale Cancer Center and Smilow Cancer Hospital.
She was formerly the director of the Stanford Neuroendocrine Tumor Program, Leader of the Endocrine Oncology Research Group, and Director of the Neuroendocrine Tumor Fellowship.
Dr. Kunz is the President of the North American Neuroendocrine Tumor Society (NANETS) and Chair of the Neuroendocrine Tumor Taskforce of the NCI. In addition, she has emerged as a leading voice for promoting gender equity in the medical workforce and has been appointed as the Vice Chief for DEI for the Section of Medical Oncology at Yale.
