Olubukola Ayodele: Honoured to be invited as a speaker at the Health Service Journal Reducing Health Inequalities Forum
Olubukola Ayodele, Consultant Medical Oncologist at the University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“I’m honoured to be invited as a speaker on a panel at the upcoming Health Service Journal Reducing Health Inequalities Forum meeting on 19th May to discuss closing the cancer care gap. This topic is close to my heart, and I am deeply motivated to be part of this important conversation.
As an oncologist practising in the UK, I see firsthand the disparities that continue to exist across the cancer care pathway. From delayed diagnoses to unequal access to treatments, it’s clear that where you live, your ethnicity, your socioeconomic status, and even your gender can significantly influence your cancer outcomes. That should never be the case.
The National Cancer Plan is the UK government’s blueprint for improving cancer outcomes, access, and experience. However, to get it right, we need every voice heard, especially those from historically underserved communities.
This isn’t just a conversation for clinicians and policymakers, it’s for all of us.
That’s why the Department of Health and Social Care has launched a public survey to shape the next phase of the National Cancer Plan. This is your chance to influence change whether you’re a patient, carer, clinician, healthcare professional or concerned citizen.
Please take a few minutes to share your voice: Deadline 29th April.
Together, we can build a cancer care system that is fair, inclusive and focused on outcomes that matter to everyone.
Let’s be bold, honest, and, most importantly, heard. Please repost or share the link with your wider community.”
