“Asia Pacific Hospice Palliative Care Conference – APHC 2025

Had a blast with my fellow speakers at APHC 2025 in Kuching, where we unpacked what it really means to serve marginalised communities in palliative care. The spoiler? It’s not just about migrants or refugees.

As Smriti Rana reminded us, marginalisation isn’t always visible. It can look like someone seemingly privileged – suited up, living in a condo and still overtreated, overlooked, and denied timely, compassionate palliative care.

And yes, cultural respect should be at the core of palliative care.

One of the points I raised: Psychosocial care may be a small term, but it carries huge responsibility!
Palliative care therefore can’t work in silos. It demands deep collaboration: across sectors, systems, and social divides. And that’s exactly what co-design is about: listening, bridging, and building with!!”
