Nazik Hammad, Medical Oncologist and Professor at St. Michael’s Hospital, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“You are invited to read our chapter on Health Human Resource Stratgies in the new UICC book “Cancer Systems and Control for Health Professionals“. We discuss 5 strategies in education and training, addressing maldistibution of the workforce, push and pull factors for brain drain, regulating private sector and dual practice, tracking the workforce and improve analytical capacity and utilization of workforce data, support and investment in research in cancer workforce.
We also discuss the prevailing paradox of shortage and underemployment, unemployment and under-deployment particularly in LMIC. We call on the global cancer community to come together to provide political and scientific leadership to make the economic case for investment and to generate quantifiable evidence on how the cancer workforce strengthens the health system and generates crucial economic and societal benefits.”
