Nazik Hammad: A great Annual symposium for the Black Physicians’ Association of Ontario
Nazik Hammad, Professor at the Division of Hematology and Oncology at St. Michael’s Hospital, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“A great Annual symposium for the Black Physicians’ Association of Ontario BPAO yesterday February 22nd. Fantastic science, community, an amazing young cadre coming up and all the joys of sharing in a world that increasingly sees the life and death issues of populations with worse health outcomes and palpable disparities as “frivolous DEI”.
This century belongs to us!
Great to see the work of N-ABL, the BPAO Network for advancing Black medical learners in Ontario (medical students, residents and fellows) as renewed commitment from the Deans of Ontario Faculties of Medicine. Our goal is a robust Black physician workforce that works with Black communities and the health system to improve Black health and disease outcomes of Black people in Ontario and Canada. Honored to be working with, and learning from my brilliant colleagues and my fellow co-chairs of N-ABL, Dr. Cindy Maxwell and Dr. Mireille Norris.
Many thanks, BPAO for all the support; our tireless president Dr . Mojola Omole and the entire team including Dr. Onye Nnorom, Dr. Chantal Phillips, Dr Zainab Doleeb Dr. Andrew Thomas Dr. Modupe Tunde-Byass and the ever dynamic Chenai Kadungure MA, MPhil and of course, Ike Okafor (Thanks Ike!).”
