Miriam Mutebi: Africa Health International Conference 2025 in Kigali
Miriam Mutebi, Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at the Aga Khan University Hospital, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Just landed in Kigali.
It’s a brand-new month, and I’m here because of the Africa Health International Conference – AHIAC 2025. A gathering that brings together cancer researchers, oncologists, policy makers, and advocates to shape the future of cancer care in Africa.
This isn’t just another conference – it’s a call to action.
Rwanda, with its strides in universal health coverage and oncology infrastructure, provides the perfect backdrop for critical discussions on strengthening cancer research, improving access to treatment, and amplifying advocacy efforts.
At AORTIC – Africa, we believe collaboration is key, and this meeting is also chance to forge meaningful partnerships that drive real change.
Some of the key conversations will focus on building a stronger oncology workforce, ensuring equitable access to care, and pushing for policy reforms that prioritize cancer on national health agendas.
And of course, beyond the discussions, it’s about taking action – ensuring that what we learn translates into tangible improvements in cancer care across the continent.
Africa’s cancer burden is growing, but so is our collective commitment to tackling it.
The road ahead is long, but together, we’re making strides. Stay tuned for more updates!”
