Miriam Mutebi: I join the world in mourning the passing of His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan IV
Miriam Mutebi, Breast Surgical Oncologist and Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at the Aga Khan University Hospital, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“It is with a heavy heart that I join the world in mourning the passing of His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan IV. A visionary leader, a champion of education and healthcare, and a selfless servant of humanity, his impact will be felt for generations.
As a breast surgical oncologist, my career has been shaped by the institutions he built. The Aga Khan Hospitals/universities have saved countless lives—not just through medical care but through the relentless pursuit of excellence in education, research, and service to humanity.
For over a decade, AGA KHAN UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL, EAST AFRICA in Nairobi has been my home.
It is where I have honed my craft, cared for breast cancer patients, and witnessed firsthand the power of his vision. Just last week, I was in Karachi for meetings with our sister University Hospital.
This was part of the RISE initiative, which empowers healthcare providers to secure funding for community-driven research. This effort highlights how one man’s dedication to quality healthcare has transformed lives across borders.”
