Michelle Mitchell OBE: Celebrating the Impact of CRUK Volunteers in Beating Cancer

Michelle Mitchell OBE shared on LinkedIn:

“Our volunteers are an inspiration. From powering our events with their enthusiasm and passion, to serving shoppers with a smile in our stores, to making their voices heard in Westminster, Holyrood, the Senedd and Stormont together, they help make our life-saving research, innovation and translation possible.

Cancer Research UK (CRUK) currently has more than 25,000 volunteers supporting our work. It’s an incredible number and we’re so grateful to each and every person who chooses to give their time to further our mission.

I enjoyed meeting some of our long-serving volunteers at one of our Flame of Hope Awards events earlier this year. People like George Wood (pictured), who received an Honorary Fellowship for his volunteering efforts over 15 years at Herne Bay and Margate Race for Life. It’s no exaggeration to say events like this simply could not take place without the support of George and so many others each year.

Thank you to everyone who has donated their time to us in 2024. Together, we are beating cancer.”
