Michael Bass: It’s not the colonoscopy – it’s the preparation that’s the problem
Michael Bass, Founding Medical Director of Oshi Health, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“It’s not the colonoscopy – it’s the preparation that’s the problem. You guys need to work on something better!
I hear this about 20 times a week.
Well, something new might be on the horizon (I can’t promise anything about the taste just yet!).
A company called EndoInnovate co-founded by a gastroenterologist, educator, and entrepreneur Toufic Kachaamy is developing a bowel prep that stains polyps, making them easier for endoscopists to see.
With the development of AI to help detect polyps by Medtronic and Iterative Health the future of colonoscopy looks promising.
I’m looking forward to more technologies that enhance the quality of colonoscopy.
You’ve likely heard about advances in non-invasive testing, causing some to argue that colonoscopy’s days are numbered.
But colonoscopy still remains the only method to prevent colon cancer by removing pre-cancerous polyps. Blood and stool tests only detect.
I’m looking forward to more technologies that enhance the quality of colonoscopy, further cementing it as the gold standard in colon cancer prevention.”
Toufic Kachaamy, Chief of Medicine and Medical Director of Gastroenterology at City of Hope Phoenix, shared this post, adding:
“Grateful for the Support of Leaders Like You, Michael Bass.
A heartfelt thank you for the kind words and support for EndoInnovate It’s inspiring to see leaders like you recognizing the importance of innovation in colonoscopy prep.
So appreciative of the thoughtful shout out for our CME event. It is more than just a conference, it’s a exerted effort to push the boundaries of what’s possible in cancer care and to get gastroenterologist more involved. Collaboration fuels innovation, and having diverse experts on the same stage is how we drive meaningful change.
Appreciate your support, Michael, and looking forward to continuing the conversation!”
