Together for a Cervical Cancer-Free Africa – Medicaid Cancer Foundation

Medicaid Cancer Foundation shared the following on LinkedIn:

“Together for a Cervical Cancer Free Africa.

The fight against cervical cancer is in full force, with the Cervical Cancer Elimination Consultative Meeting currently underway in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, organized by the Africa CDC. This significant gathering is bringing Africa closer to the WHO’s 90-70-90 target, uniting health ministers, researchers, civil society, and partners to eliminate cervical cancer by 2030.

At Medicaid Cancer Foundation, we are not just participants—we are active changemakers in this movement. Our ongoing efforts include:

  • Hosting Continuing Medical Education (CME) sessions to equip healthcare professionals with the latest knowledge.
  • Leading community education initiatives to raise awareness and combat stigma around cervical cancer.
  • Supporting strategic planning and fostering partnerships to ensure that no one is left behind.

This meeting highlights key actions needed to eliminate cervical cancer:

  1. Renewing commitment from African Union Member States.
  2. Building stronger partnerships among stakeholders.
  3. Creating a comprehensive roadmap for accelerated progress.
  4. Establishing a Technical Working Group (TWG) to monitor and guide efforts.

However, some challenges remain:

  • Limited resources hindering program implementation.
  • Persistent awareness gaps and stigma delaying early detection.
  • Weak health systems that need urgent strengthening.

As the discussions continue, Medicaid Cancer Foundation is more determined than ever to drive impactful solutions. By investing in resources, educating communities, and advocating for robust health systems, we are shaping a future where cervical cancer becomes a thing of the past.

Together, let’s make Africa cervical cancer-free!”
