Martin Harutyunyan: Welcome to the MASCC/ISOO Annual Meeting!

Martin Harutyunyan, Medical Oncologist and Head of Palliative Medicine Service at Yeolyan Hematology and Oncology Center, shared a post on LinkedIn by The Multinational Association of Supportive Care in Cancer (MASCC), adding:

“Welcome to the MASCC/ISOO Annual Meeting!

This year’s meeting in Seattle brings together voices from around the world to explore “Informed Decisions in Supportive Cancer Care.”

In addition to the plenary sessions, I’d like to suggest a few presentations that are especially worth checking out:

  • Prof Christina H. Ruhlmann – Gastrointestinal toxicities of immunotherapy, tyrosine kinase inhibitors and antibody drug conjugates – mechanisms, presentation, prevention and management
  • Dr Joseph Arthur – Exploring the use of Olanzapine to minimize non-medical opioid use in cancer patients.
  • Dr Shabbir Alibhai – Using artificial intelligence to predict chemotherapy toxicity risk in older adults with cancer
  • Prof Bogda Koczwara – Work After Cancer: A Global Audit of Challenges and Priorities Across High-, Middle-, and Low-Income Economies
  • Prof Sebastian Szmit – May cardiovascular toxicity also be stigmatizing in a cancer patient?
  • Dr Enrique Soto Perez de Celis – Results of the MASCC Delphi Consensus on the Assessment of Loneliness in Older Adults with Cancer
  • Prof Hope Rugo – Antibody-Drug Conjugates (ADCs): Managing Nausea and Gastrointestinal Toxicities in Oncology
  • Prof Marc Carrier – New Era in Oncology: Emerging Toxicities of New Cancer Treatments and the Need for Thromboprophylaxis
  • Prof Judith Lacey – Emerging and chronic toxicities and the role of IO in management. A multidisciplinary approach to complex symptoms and symptom clusters for people affected by cancer.

I’ll also be sharing a rapid e-poster on palliative care in Armenia (Undermining Well-Being: The Ripple Effects of Palliative Care Deficiencies on Armenian Doctors and Their Patients) – feel free to stop by if you’re interested.”
