Marko Korenjak: From Silence to Visibility – A Unified Call for Change in Liver Health Policy
European Liver Patients’ Association (ELPA) shared a post on LinkedIn:
“A defining moment for liver health in Europe!
“Fatty Liver and NCDs: A European Policy Action”
Hosted by MEPs Michalis Hadjipantela (EPP, Cyprus) and Irena Joveva (Renew, Slovenia)
Opened with a powerful welcome by ELPA President Marko Korenjak.“From silence to visibility. From fragmentation to integration.” With these words, Marko Korenjak ignited a unified call for change—welcoming patients, policymakers, public health leaders, and experts to the biggest liver policy event ever held in Brussels.
Fatty Liver Disease affects 1 in 4 adults in Europe and is tightly linked to obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and cancer. Yet it’s still missing from most national and EU-level NCD strategies.
But today, that changes. With bold leadership from MEPs, unwavering commitment from ELPA, and strong partnerships with IDF, ECPO, Global Heart Hub, EPHA, and EASL, we are shaping the future of public health policy in Europe. This is not just an event—it’s a movement. It’s time to move from rhetoric to reform. The liver patient community is here. We are loud. We are united. We are unstoppable.”
