Marianne Sarcich: Powerful words about the true impact of patient advocates
Marianne Sarcich, Founder of Breast Health 101 with Marianne, shared a post by Mallory Casperson, CEO, Founder at Cactus Cancer Society, adding:
“We are the safety net. Powerful words about the true impact of patient advocates.“
Quoting Mallory Casperson‘s post:
“Today, my mom would have turned 69. She was an Oncology Nurse Specialist who dedicated her life to caring for others, both at the bedside and in leadership roles. She passed away in 2011 from a glioblastoma, and my life has never been the same.
Even now, working in cancer advocacy, it’s easy to get caught up in the day-to-day: the emails, the meetings, the grant reports, the metrics, the logistics. It’s easy to forget that all those little things are part of something much bigger.
But they are. The work we do matters. Patient advocacy professionals are the safety net. We fill the gaps. We listen, we guide, we show up—over and over again—for patients and families navigating the unimaginable. So if you’re doing this work: thank you. You’re doing great. Keep going. Take care of yourself along the way. The work is important. You are important too.”
