Maria Nomikou: A Milestone – The Official Launch of ELLOK as Greece’s National Cancer Mission Hub
Maria Nomikou, Director at Hellenic Cancer Federation – ELLOK, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Reflecting on two inspiring days: The 2nd Synergies Forum on Cancer
Over the past two days, ELLOK had the honour of convening our 2nd Synergies Forum on Cancer – Policy, Research and Funding Strategies, an event that brought together an extraordinary community of experts, policymakers, researchers, innovators, and patient representatives.
During this Forum, we marked a milestone: the official launch of ELLOK as the Greek National Cancer Mission Hub, created as part of the European ECHoS programme, which drives the establishment of national Hubs to advance the EU Mission on Cancer.
As our President, George Kapetanakis, stated:
‘The National Cancer Mission Hub serves as a catalyst, aiming to strengthen connections and bring together researchers, clinicians, policymakers, innovators, patients, citizens, and industry in a common mission: to transform the way our society prevents, detects, treats, and lives with cancer.’
During the Forum, we achieved important goals:
- Opened a constructive dialogue on the urgent need for targeted policies and sustainable funding strategies
- Highlighted research priorities and innovations in cancer care
- Connected diverse voices to drive collective action
I would like to extend my warmest thanks to all our distinguished speakers, panelists and participants whose expertise and commitment made this Forum such a success. Special thanks to Hugo R. Soares, Anabela Isidro, Sofia Xesfingi, the entire ECHoS Team, and Florian Tille for their support and close collaboration.
Finally, I am deeply grateful to the entire ELLOK team Katerina Nikitara, Angela Masselou, Marina Ximeri, Nancy Megremi, Panagiotis Painesis, Aris Kaparakis, and Jola Troumpouki for their hard work, professionalism and passion. It is thanks to their dedication that we can take these important steps forward together.
Let’s build on this momentum to guarantee that every person living with cancer benefits from excellent, equitable and person-centred care.”
