“Liver Cancer – One of the Most Preventable Cancers.
This 4th February, as we observe World Cancer Day, let’s focus on a crucial message: among many types of cancer, liver cancer stands out as one of the most preventable. Yet, it remains a growing global health crisis.
The Facts:
- Liver cancer often develops from cirrhosis, a condition caused by years of liver damage.
- Alarmingly, alcohol consumption accounts for nearly half of all cirrhosis cases worldwide, making it a major contributor to liver cancer.
But that’s not all. Other preventable risk factors include:
- Chronic infections like Hepatitis B, C and D.
- Obesity and MASLD MASH.
- Rare Liver Diseases.
- Smoking and toxic chemical exposure
Prevention Starts Today:
- Limit alcohol intake – or quit completely.
- Get vaccinated and treat for Hepatitis B and D.
- Screened (cure) Hepatitis C.
- Choose a healthy lifestyle with balanced nutrition and regular exercise.
- Advocate for early detection and regular check-ups.
Liver cancer is preventable when we address its causes. This World Cancer Day, let’s commit to spreading awareness, reducing risk factors, and supporting each other in the fight against cancer.
Prevention is better than cure – start protecting your liver today.
Together, we can close the care gap and create a healthier, cancer-free future.”
