Laura Ortiz-Ravick: Thrilled to Share New Interview Uplifting Latino Blood Cancer Communities

Laura Ortiz-Ravick, Director of  National Outreach and Health Equity Partnerships at The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, shared a post on LinkedIn by Carlos Guerrero Anderson, Director of Multicultural Engagement and Insights at Hairy Cell Leukemia Foundation, adding:

“Thrilled to share this new interview, part of a collaboration between The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and the Hairy Cell Leukemia Foundation, created to uplift and inform Hispanic and Latino communities impacted by blood cancer, particularly rare diseases like hairy cell leukemia (HCL).
This conversation not only introduces the basics of HCL, but also highlights the urgent need for culturally relevant education, the barriers many Latino patients face in accessing care for rare diseases, and the vital role of patient advocacy in helping families navigate a diagnosis with knowledge and confidence.
We are grateful to everyone who helped bring this important segment to life, especially our partners at Entravision US Media, Charoh Ortiz for her thoughtful coordination, and Carlos Guerrero Anderson for generously sharing his insights and lived experiences. These voices are essential to ensuring that every patient feels seen, heard, and supported.”

Quoting Carlos Guerrero Anderson’s post:

“I am proud to share this interview organized by The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (National Hispanic Outreach Division within the Direction of National Outreach and Health Equity), in partnership with the Hairy Cell Leukemia Foundation.
This conversation aimed at the Hispanic and Latino cancer patient community, we explore my role as Director of Multicultural Engagement and insights, provide an overview of HCL, and discuss the unique challenges Hispanic and Latino leukemia patients face, including barriers to care, the importance of cultural relevance, and pathways to empowerment through patient advocacy.
At the Hairy Cell Leukemia Foundation, we’re honored to strengthen our collaboration with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society to better serve blood cancer patients and expand access to trusted information and resources for Spanish-speaking communities.
A heartfelt thank-you to Charoh Ortiz for her professionalism in coordinating and conducting this interview, Laura Ortiz-Ravick for her commitment to facilitating this important collaboration, and Anna Lambertson for her visionary leadership and unwavering dedication to ensuring that every HCL and rare disease patient, regardless of background, is seen, heard, and supported.”
