Lacy Hubbard: Leaving The Second Global Cervical Cancer Elimination Forum Energized and More Determined Than Ever
Lacy Hubbard, President and CEO of Elekta Foundation, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Leaving the Bali Forum Energized and More Determined Than Ever
We wrapped up the second Global Cervical Cancer Elimination Forum yesterday — a powerful, high-level gathering that truly advanced the call to action.
Hosted by the Government of Indonesia with key support partners like World Health Organization, Gates Foundation, Unitaid and The World Bank, the forum brought over 300 participants, including Ministries of Health from more than 30 countries, global experts, and the private sector to drive meaningful progress toward the 90-70-90 targets.
As a Swedish NGO implementing cervical cancer screening in low-resource settings, I joined a panel to discuss the role of the private sector, drawing from our experience delivering services on the ground.
I emphasized that products and tools must be adapted to real-world environments, not ideal conditions. If we want to screen more women, faster and more cost-effectively, we need bold thinking, smart innovation, and strong collaboration.
It was powerful to hear Rwanda’s State Minister, Dr. Yvan Butera, reaffirm the country’s bold commitment to Mission 2027. I’m proud that the Elekta Foundation is working alongside to help turn that vision into reality.
Beyond the panels, it was a joy to reconnect with old friends, meet new allies, and stand shoulder to shoulder with changemakers from around the world—all committed to ending cervical cancer once and for all.
Let’s keep the momentum going and work together to ensure that no woman is left behind in the fight to eliminate cervical cancer!”
