Lacy Hubbard: Discussing the Nation’s Bold Mission 2027—The Goal to Eliminate Cervical Cancer by 2027

Lacy Hubbard, President of the Elekta Foundation, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Today, I had the privilege of meeting with Rwanda’s Minister of Health, Dr. Sabin Nsanzimana, to discuss the nation’s bold Mission2027—the goal to eliminate cervical cancer by 2027, three years ahead of the World Health Organization’s global target.

Dr. Sabin’s visionary outlook and action-driven leadership are truly inspiring. His recent success in tackling the Marburg outbreak exemplifies Rwanda’s ability to deliver impactful results through focus and innovation.

With this proven track record, I am confident Rwanda will achieve this historic milestone.

As a proud partner in Mission 2027, we celebrated what the Elekta Foundation has accomplished and reaffirmed our commitment to supporting Rwanda’s unwavering dedication to women’s health.

Cervical cancer elimination is not just a health milestone—it is a legacy of empowerment, equity, and hope for women and their families.

This mission is further bolstered by the steadfast advocacy of Rwanda’s First Lady, Her Excellency Jeannette Kagame, whose leadership has been instrumental in achieving 90% HPV vaccination coverage, building a strong foundation for success.

With the support of global leaders like WHO, Mission 2027 is setting a powerful example for the world.

I call upon global partners, NGOs, private sector leaders, and health advocates to join us in this transformative mission.

Together, we can eliminate cervical cancer and create a healthier, more equitable future for women everywhere.”
