Kimryn Rathmell: Unparalleled Partnership Between The James and Pelotonia
Kimryn Rathmell, Chief Executive Officer of the Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center-James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute, shared a post on X by James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute, adding:
“How breathtaking to be at the Opening Ceremony tonight and see the whole Ride Weekend community come together! So much gratitude for Pelotonia, the sponsors, riders, champions, volunteers, cancer survivors, the tens of thousands who showed their passion for Ending Cancer.
I was blown away by stories from Joe Apgar and Matt Wilson, both survivors, and Dr. Uma Borate of The James, whose treatment helped make Matt’s first ride this year possible. Every survivor’s story reminds us of what matters and helps us understand cancer.
One of the most wonderful things an oncologist can say to a patient is “You are cancer-free!” Experiencing the community tonight, I felt more than ever that The James can be THE science and care leader, so everyone in Ohio and beyond can one-day say, ‘I am cancer-free!’.
Our secret sauce is this incredible Pelotonia community.
It really is the differentiator for our cancer program that allows us to make life-saving discoveries and care possible at The James. And, we can’t get those discoveries where they need to be without community support.
I can’t wait to ride alongside everyone tomorrow and experience firsthand what biking with the Pelotonia community is all about!”
