Jill Feldman: Changing the trajectory of lung cancer in Africa
Jill Feldman, Co-Founder of EGFR Resisters and Lung Cancer Patient and Advocate, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“My heart is full. It is hard to describe the 1st International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer Pan Africa Conference on Lung Cancer (PACLC25) Meeting in Ghana. Did you know that in ALL of Western Africa, there is 1 pet scanner? Yes, only 1 pet scanner!
More than 200 people (patients, caregivers, individual advocates and organizations, doctors, nurses, and researchers) from across Africa came together to learn, collaborate, and provoke change. The advocacy workshop was just as powerful: Over 40 passionate attendees from all disciplines shared perspectives and solutions and left with renewed HOPE ! Thank you, IASLC, for believing in and supporting this vision and making it happen.
A huge shoutout to my dear friend Caleb Egwuenu. In 2018, Caleb reached out to me with a dream – one that felt so far away at the time. His passion, persistence, and unwavering commitment to transforming lung cancer in Africa made it happen. Upal Basu Roy and I are humbled, friend. It has been an honor and privilege to work with you – This is history, and it’s just the beginning!
Seeing so many voices come together, determined to change the trajectory of lung cancer in Africa, has renewed my hope. This is what progress and collaboration looks like.”
