Jennifer Douglas: Before I Made a Surgical Decision, I Paused
Jennifer Douglas, Writer and DCIS Breast Cancer Patient Advocate, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Before I made a surgical decision, I paused.
I waited for imaging, biopsy results, and genetic testing before committing to a lumpectomy. The waiting wasn’t easy—but it allowed me to make a decision rooted in both evidence and self-trust.
Too often, patients feel rushed or overwhelmed during this phase of treatment. But when we have the opportunity to slow down, gather information, and ask the right questions, we’re empowered to make the best decision for us.
Inside my Encourage membership, I’m sharing how I made my own surgical decision and supporting others through that same process.
This week’s module focuses on surgical choices—what to expect, what questions to ask, and how to consider what matters most to you.
If you or someone you know is navigating this, here’s where to learn more.”
